      Engineer

As a co-op for BMW Manufacturing, I intermittently filled the open position of a full-time zone quality engineer responsible for the three primary areas (Lines) post assembly: • Fluid Fill - All vehicle fluids filled and monitored. Final test of electrical system to ensure that only complete vehicles proceed to the Test Line. • Test Line - Alignment, headlight aiming, motor test, ABS, stability control • Finish Line - Final total vehicle inspection, in-line rework, and vehicle wrapping before transport. My hall manufactured the BMW X5 and X6 models. A large part of my position related to managing the status of the defect landscape of both of these vehicles as they are electrically tested throughout the six zones within assembly. This electrical defect landscape was critical, as it provides the only method to identify defects early from incorrect software/coding, parts, or connections.I steered and escalated top/ongoing defects in the appropriate manner. This involved heavy interaction and communication with various departments such as the vehicle analysis, supplier quality, planning, design, and assembly.Served on official E/E (electrical/electronics) Core Team along with engineers from vehicle analysis and planning to collaborate on extensive defect solutions. We held a formal meeting weekly where I was solely responsible for effectively presenting on the status of all X5/X6 defects from assembly, testing, and inspections, throughout all zones.Other responsibilities/tasks from my time with BMW: • Participated in quality reviews, process chains, and working meetings when needed. • Informed the Department Manager on urgent issues affecting vehicle pass rate. • Assigned and was assigned official product quality management (PQM) points necessary for critical defects. • Trained and fully educated my full-time replacement so that no progress or knowledge was lost during the position hand off.
