  The CRADLE – The Children’s Foundation is a non-profit making and non-governmental organization committed to the protection, promotion and enhancement of the rights of the child through court representation, advocacy and law reform. I was deployed in the Access to Justice Department which constitutes assisting children and their families in legal affairs, ensuring that children in conflict with the law are prosecuted in a just and fair manner. My main tasks there were media monitoring and fact finding which meant looking for cases of interest in the newspapers, social media or on television and following up on them to find out if The CRADLE could offer any assistance to ensure justice would be delivered. This required me to conduct fact finding missions such as visiting police stations, schools and homes as a way of gathering enough information we could act on. Show less

  Judicial Attaché

  As required by our undergraduate school curriculum, every student was required to complete a two month long judicial attachment in a law court in the country. I applied and was stationed at the Malindi law courts. I spent two weeks in the court registry, with one week each in the civil and criminal registry. Some of my tasks included opening files, preparing court quorum, filling the registers and going over charge sheets to make sure they were not defective. I was then attached to Senior Resident Magistrate Hon. Y.I Khatambi and sat in her court for the remaining six weeks of my attachment. During this period, I was able to learn a lot. Some of my tasks under the Honourable Magistrate included preparing court summons for witnesses, production orders for accused persons, prepared legal opinions, rulings and judgements on cases assigned to me Show less

  Sub Saharan International Model United Nations (SAIMUN) is a five-day international relations simulation attended by more than 500 students from all over the world for both high school and university/college students that is held annually at the United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON), Gigiri. My role as Under Secretary General for Chairing and Training comprised of ensuring all committee chairs selected are well trained to handle the committee sessions; assisting in the training of delegates and allocating countries and committees to the delegates in preparation for the mock debates and main conference.As part of the Secretariat I am proud to say that we have successfully organised: 1. 3 conferences at UNON, Gigiri in 2017, 2018 and 2019;2. 1 conference in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2019; and3. 2 digital conferences in 2020 and 2021.
