      Provide recovery oriented care in a residential setting for young people experiencing mental ill health: ‘step up’ care (from the community) providing early intervention to prevent the need for a hospital admission and ‘step down’ care following a hospital admission to assist with their recovery before returning home. The ‘Clinical High at-Risk Mental State’ (CHARMS) study aims to pilot the recently developed criteria for prospectively identifying young people who are at risk of developing first episode psychosis, first episode mania, severe major depressive disorder and borderline personality disorder.
