  During my PhD I investigated the mode of action and the therapeutic potential of the Myc inhibitor Omomyc (from in vitro to in vivo studies) which today is the core compound of the VHIO spin-off Peptomyc S.L. I also preclinically validated compounds for other pharmaceutical companies (J&J and Bayer) and established several collaborations with academic laboratories. I presented my work at several national and international conferences. As a result, I published 8 articles (3 as first author) and 1 book chapter, and registered 2 patents as co-inventor. Supervisor: Dr. Laura Soucek Main research interest: Lung, pancreatic and brain cancer; Myc inhibition; Peptides and nanoparticles; Mouse models of cancerTechniques learned: cell culture and viability assays, PCR, DNA cloning, immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, Western Blot, ChIP-sequencing, RNA extraction and microarray analysis, nanoparticle characterization and formulation, management of GEMM colonies, in vivo administration (oral, i.v., i.p...), IVIS imaging analysis.Skills developed: Evidence-based decision; Data interpretation; Clear communication of complex concepts; Task prioritization; Project management; Cooperate and coordinate with team members.   Thanks to a collaboration that I established during my PhD and a grant from the FERO foundation, I worked for 6 months in the laboratory of a world-expert in lipid-nanoparticle formulation and characterization. Under the supervision of Prof. Vladimir Torchilin (director of the Center for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Nanomedicine) I formulated and characterized liposomal nanoparticles encapsulating the Myc-inhibitor Omomyc peptide.
