Cognitive science helps to understand human cognition and design more user-friendly technologies.Master's Project -Cognitive Computing (Study of Visual Perception of Emotions using Deep learning), Supervisor - Prof. Narayanan Srinivasan, CBCSI investigated the output of the Deep-Dream algorithm in a deep convolutional neural network trained on the Karolinska Directed Emotional Faces data set, on seven types of emotions, for early and late layers. We found qualitative similarities between the simulation outputs and results of psychological studies conducted on human beings for studying the visual perception of emotions. Show less

The department has been awarded a number of sponsored research projects from various Govt. agencies such as AICTE, MHRD, DST etc. The department caters to the manpower and technical requirements of various sophisticated and household industries.Project -Our team Future Footprints designed and developed an Electric Car. It is a two-seater electric car with a maximum speed of 45 KMPH, mileage of 60 km, and load-carrying capacity of 35 kgs. We participated in the National Level Competition of EFFI - CAR 2016 at UIET, Chandigarh. Our team successfully passed all the tests but the endurance test. We secured All India Rank - 08. We also participated in the grand finale of the Smart India Hackathon and secured AIR-08. We successfully retrofitted a diesel car into an electrical variant. Show less

      SIH Grand Finalist - Smart Vehicles (Retrofitting of existing vehicles into electric vehicles.)Our team was a Grand Finalist of Smart India Hackathon, Hardware Edition 2018. We were among 10 of the best teams out of 700+ teams across the nation. Our team successfully presented the proof-of-concept of retrofitting the existing diesel vehicle into an electric variant using an Induction motor, Lead-acid batteries, and controller. We successfully completed the test run.
