      Masters Sports Management

      Through my Sports Management classes and program I was able to gain a better understanding of the world of sports. Understanding it's role in history and the prominence in our society has given me a better appreciation for the importance of recreation and sports. It's a multi-billion dollar enterprise that brings people together, provides a positive outlet for people, and serves as a beacon of identity and purpose for many. The experiences I gained as an SIUE student have enabled me to become a strong advocate for a healthy and active lifestyle promoting sports and physical fitness to build strong body, mind and spirit. Lead Intramural captain meetings to cover the rules and expectations for their particular league; continued communication with captains/participants throughout the season to address concerns they or Intramural Dept. had. Served as liaison between Intramural Director, Intramural GA, and Intramural referees/captains/participants; kept communication lines open for all concerned. Average annual participation of over 4000 children-seniors in soccer, volleyball, basketball, football, martial arts, sports camps and clinics, racquetball, and birthday parties. Recruit, hire, train and supervise staff of 40 or more and over 400 volunteers. Promote and publicize programs and services by utilizing all forms of available media. Maintain, prepare and replace all equipment and facilites for program participants and staff. Maintain and monitor annual budget in excess of $200,000 while keeping accurate and detailed financial records; control expenditures on staff and supplies; make recommendations for future budget appropriations. Build relationships and partnerships with community leaders to enhance overall community programming.
