      Design Engineer

Product engineering for automatic capacitor controls with the Overhead Grid and Automated Electronics Division. Develop components and assemblies for IntelliCap 2000 Automatic Capacitor Controls critical to the process of product development (improving function, manufacturability, and appearance while lowering cost). Physically construct items created using 3D CAD software and communicate dimensional and functional requirements on a 2D print. Assemble prototypes and conduct tests, troubleshoot complex problems in a team environment. The IntelliCap 2000 Automatic Capacitor Controls are specifically designed to control pole-mounted and pad-mounted switched capacitor banks in electric distribution systems, to regulate reactive power or line voltage. These reliable, easy-to-use, microprocessor-based controls normally operate autonomously, based on the control strategy selected. One or two-way communication devices allow the IntelliCap 2000 Control to operate in response to switching commands from SCADA and can also make local status information and feeder data available remotely.S&C Electric Company is a global provider of equipment and services for electric power systems. Founded in 1911, the Chicago-based company is a leading innovator in electric power switching, protection, and control transforming the electric power transmission and distribution industry.
