  The Assistant Director for Black/ African heritage student affairs has two main responsibilities.1. Assess the academic barriers existing in the University which may hinder the personal, social, and career development of Black/African heritage students. 2. Create, develop and implement programming to enhance the cross-cultural interaction between students from different academic disciplines, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and experiences. For the George Mason chapter affiliate of the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) I served as a lead trainer.My focus was prejudice reduction, and change agent based leadership development. Our role is to facilitate training and education sessions to increase diversity awareness and multicultural competency for the academic environment, community, and workplace environment

This includes leveraging volunteer recruitment strategies to ensure a robust pool of potential volunteers, while also working with current volunteers; intentional onboarding and training for volunteers that articulates the possible breadth of the volunteer experience; and stewardship of current and former volunteers.
