  In this training based virtual internship experience, I was guided on how to collect and share public health information with my local community. I learned about national and local data sources to address a public health concern of your choice, such as nutrition, physical activity, injury, tobacco use, and environmental hazards (e.g., water quality, pollution). The goal of this internship was to apply my learnings to my local community, in order to recommend policy change or new programs that can be introduced in the area. Keep in mind that public health is a diverse and interdisciplinary field that includes people from many backgrounds and interest areas, such as science, communications, humanities, information technology, engineering, clinical care, and more. Show less In this internship, I learned when, why, and how to leverage human visual perception to communicate with data using different visualizations. I created visuals that answered key questions about my sponsor’s business. This internship equipped me with tools to develop visual thinking and the power it could add to my skillset. I developed skills in information literacy, communication, critical thinking, inquiry, and analysis. I designed audience-appropriate data presentations that align with best practices for data visualization. Show less This Healthcare Management Virtual Internship was sponsored by SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. The main goal of this internship was to assess the physical and mental health care needs of young adults and propose to the partners the necessary resources. I engaged with real-world data and have four weeks to go through the different stages of this internship. Through this internship, I developed valuable skills such as learning how to conduct a needs assessment, aligning strategies with national health priorities like Healthy People 2030, and develop and test quantitative and qualitative methods for collecting data.
