Initially I was the Project Accountant for a $60m factory construction project. I was responsible for the forecasting of construction costs and of ensuring suppliers were paid on time to avoid any project delays. Once the factory became operational, I was the Administration Manager on site responsible for the management accounting and general administration functions. I had 2 direct reports. The major challenge from this role was implementing all of the controls for a brand new start up site. All staff across the site had to be trained to ensure compliance with controls, and a complete set of internal management reports had to be developed to allow the other members of the leadership team to track performance.By not having any previous history or track record to gauge financial performance, forecasting and budgeting was a difficult task. We were continually refining our new processes to ensure they delivered the required outcomes of safety, quality and profitability. Show less I was site based, and provided management accounting support as well as working across multiple business processes to gain a wider understanding of the manufacturing and sales functions.I became involved in Accounts Payable, Payroll, Product Costing and Procurement, as well as the standard management accounting processes like month end close and balance sheet reconciliations. As my first role out of university, it provided me with the detailed understanding of the challenges businesses face and their competing priorities. Becoming a trusted and successful business partner starts by understanding the business. Show less

      Finance Manager

I provided management accounting expertise for the multiple internet based revenue streams/products that News UK supplied the market. The primary benefit I brought to this role was the increased visibility of non finance KPI's to the respective Product Managers. By developing a KPI dashboard for each Product Manager, they were much more able to see how marketing spend impacted the website traffic they were attempting to increase.

      Feb 2010 - Aug 2011
      Finance Manager

I provided finance support to Managing Directors across 7 separate functions within the Innovate & Design business unit of BT. Initially my portfolio began with 3 functions. I had 1 direct report.During my time with BT, they were undergoing a large cost transformation process to become more efficient and to be able to return cost savings into product development. As a Finance manager, I was tasked with guiding my 7 functions through detailed spending reviews, ensuring all costs were justifiable. Significant cost reductions ($20m) were derived from these reviews, through a combination of FTE reduction and increased challenge on spending requests.I also lead on company wide cost compliance reviews to ensure purchasing policies were being followed throughout the business. Senior Business Analyst

Fixed term contractor who had responsibility for providing management accounting support to multiple Heads of Departments. The primary challenge within the role was upskilling the Heads of departments and their direct reports on understanding the cost drivers within their remits, and how they could influence them.

    • Holcim Australia & New Zealand

      May 2012 - Jun 2017

A fully dedicated project role that delivered the captive offshoring of Holcim Australia and New Zealand’s accounting functions to regional shared services in Manila. The role required me to develop a list of finance tasks to be offshored, implement a suite of project management tools/plans to provide governance to the project steering committee, ensured the Australian based business understood the impact of the change on them and that the offshore team was capable and well equipped to perform to the required business expectations. The project succeeded with the transfer of skills and capabilities to the offshore team taking place within the overall project timeframes and budget. Show less The Corporate Controlling role required me to provide planning, analysis and forecasting support and month end commentary for Holcim's Corporate functions and Western Australian concrete business.I provided financial support to functional heads (legal, safety, HR etc.) the General Manager and Cell Managers within the Concrete business to assist them in delivering full year financial results. I also compiled the operational and capex budgets for Corporate and WA Concrete.I was involved in multiple transformational projects in both Corporate and the Concrete businesses which derived significant financial savings and process efficiencies, as well as coordinating the annual budgeting process and introducing a new suite of internal management reports. Show less I oversaw a team of 8 management accountants that provided financial support (transactional processing and analysis, inventory management and general training) for Holcim Australia's 3 operating business units (215 sites) as well as the Corporate function. The key deliverables of this team were month end EBITDA close, stock revaluations, royalty and rebate processing and business support. Continually driving improved business processes was also a large focus of the team.I gained a wide range of exposure to all aspects of the business and developed strong relationships with key finance and operational stakeholders.
