      The Albright College Director of Public Safety is responsible for leadership in the development and implementation of a campus-wide, comprehensive safety and security program to ensure the safety of students, faculty, staff and visitors. This position reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students. The Director integrates policies, people, and systems to develop a vision for a comprehensive campus safety program that includes daily operations and long term priorities for campus safety, emergency management, risk management, access control, and transportation services;The Director of Public Safety works collaboratively with partners across campus and in the community to champion a culture of proactive thinking throughout the College in order to maintain a safe and secure campus environment for a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and visitors; The Director of Public Safety provides leadership and supervision for a team of fourteen fulltime Police/Public Safety personnel, thirty part-time Auxiliary Public Safety Officers, a contingent of Student Officers and one administrative staff member and partners with the Reading Police, Muhlenberg Police, Berks County District Attorney, and Pennsylvania State Police. More specifically, the Director of the Department of Public Safety manages all administrative, personnel, and financial responsibilities for a comprehensive 24 hour/365 days-a-year department. The position oversees patrol, investigations, officer recruitment and training, a communication desk, video surveillance system, card access, transportation/shuttle operations/escorts, emergency response plans and drills, crime prevention strategies/geo-based, College crime statistic reporting (Clery & UCR), event management, dignitary protection, facilities security, traffic control and parking enforcement, and criminal incident/emergency scene management.
