      Provided advanced pre-hospital emergency medical care to residents of tri-county region.On Tuesday, June 18, 1996, Louis A. Schopfer, Jr. (because of his volunteer work in the community) carried the Olympic Torch from Trenton, New Jersey across the “Trenton Makes” bridge into Morrisville, Pennsylvania. Also, Lou has been a volunteer for the YWCA of Trenton “Week Without Violence.” He was a Council Trustee in addition to serving as the Gala Chair of the United Cerebral Palsy Association. Lou has served for several years with West Jersey Health Systems and Cherry Hill EMS. While serving as a paramedic, Lou was portrayed in the feature documentary “Making the Difference” with Ron Jaworski of the Philadelphia Eagles. Lou has mentored “at risk” inner-city juveniles from the Work Experience and Career Exploration Program (WECEP) at the Holland Middle School in Trenton.Lou served in the elected position of the Trenton Council for the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) and has served as a member of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA), and the New Jersey Association of Criminal Justice Educators (NJACJE). He is a former member of the American Academy of Certified Public Managers and was elected as a Trustee in the Certified Public Managers Society of New Jersey, Inc. (CPMSNJ). Lou is listed in the International Who’s Who of Professionals, 1999 Edition.Lou is a lifetime resident of Cherry Hill and is married to former freelance reporter, office manager, musician, and poet, Janice Anne Clark, formerly of Manlius, New York. Lou served as an elected Deacon/Treasurer/Official Board of Kingsway (Assembly of God) Church in Cherry Hill where he is active with his family. They have two children, Elizabeth Anne, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and Matthew Clark, a graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick. Planned, organized, and directed the activities and work programs in the areas of budget and accounting, procurement, personnel, management information systems, public information, printing, graphic arts activities, and facilities management.In January 1999, Lou served as Chair of World Research Group’s Las Vegas conference entitled “Best Practices in Government Procurement: Streamlining Purchasing through Information Technology and Process Reengineering.” In May 1999, in Washington, D.C., Lou participated on a panel for the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers’ (NASACT) “Thirteenth Annual Cash Management and Electronic Commerce Conference.” In May 2000, he served as Co-Chair of a joint statewide symposium in Princeton entitled "Public Service in the New Millennium."Lou is an Executive Assistant 4 in the Office of Fiscal Accountability and Compliance and the Office of School Preparedness and Emergency Planning within the Department of Education where he works at “Keeping Our Kids Safe.” Prior to this appointment, he served in the Office of the State Treasurer, Department of the Treasury, where he managed business re-engineering and efficiency initiatives for the Administration. Prior to his appointment, he was Director of Finance and Administration for New Jersey Network (NJN) and Assistant Treasurer and CFO for the NJN Foundation, the State’s public radio and television provider. Lou is a former employee of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), as well as several other State agencies. Show less The United Methodist Committee on Relief U.S. Disaster Response (UMCOR USDR) seeks to alleviate suffering caused by disasters that strike within the United States and its territories.With a “communities own their recoveries” philosophy, UMCOR supports local efforts to accomplish immediate relief and long-term recovery while providing for volunteers to offer compassionate ministry in the aftermath of disasters.In partnership with disaster response ministries and coordinators in U.S. annual conferences, UMCOR journeys with affected communities throughout a disaster’s cycle, including disaster preparedness, relief, response, recovery and mitigation.UMCOR’s Early Response Team (ERT) training program supports conference preparedness and immediate response efforts.
