  From 2008 to 2012, I spent my summers picking cherries in the Okanagan Valley. While it may seem unrelated to business and accounting, this role taught me invaluable skills that directly transferred into my professional life and helped shape the foundation of my work ethic.Cherry picking is both mentally and physically demanding, requiring constant problem-solving to maximize efficiency. Each tree is different which presented its own unique set of challenges and I had to consider variables like ladder placement, body positioning, terrain, and my own level of fatigue in order to safely pick the most cherries in the fewest movements. All while ensuring the fruit met the highest quality standards for export.The long, hot days in the orchard taught me key lessons: adaptability, attention to detail, and the importance of maintaining focus and efficiency, no matter the conditions. Though the work was far from glamorous, it instilled a deep understanding of how to stay organized, meet deadlines, and approach challenges with a clear, methodical mindset.
