This opportunity was a fun introduction into professional settings. As an Orientation Leader I took charge and broke the ice with hundreds of freshmen, transfer students, and parents who joined the Texas Wesleyan University Family year-round. This roll depended heavily team collaboration across the campus. I guided my own groups of up to 20 students through 2-day overnight experiences, introducing them to all that the culture had to offer. I answered their questions, called on my colleagues to fill in the gaps, and facilitated the process between students and advisors. I troubleshot technical difficulties on the spot to keep the orientation process running smoothly throughout the day, and followed risk management procedures. Show less As a Residence Life Coordinator, I directly assisted Texas Wesleyan University's Residence Life Directors in running daily office operations at the front desk. This roll required lots of phone communication with other university departments as well as incoming calls from current and future residents. I also managed expense reports and other Residence Life data spreadsheets. I employed conflict resolution skills frequently while communicating with students in the dorms an concerned parents. Professional standards and empathy were the most important part of my uniform as I learned how to maintain amicable relationships as a trusted student employee. Show less

In college courses like Probability and Statistics and Quantitative Analysis, I learned how data is collected and manipulated to reveal patterns leading to actionable insights. I took what I learned and applied it for a semester in UNT's Pediatric Movement and Physical Activity Laboratory under Dr. Tao Zhang. With this team I planned and facilitated procedures with human subjects, and collected data. These procedures included initial, and several follow-up interactions with the subjects. Using Microsoft Excel I cleaned and processed the data, and then used secure university software to create visualizations and analyze the results of our procedures. These projects aimed to provide evidence to support implementation of physical activity programs to promote motor development for young children, and reduce stress for busy college students. Show less In this collaborative environment, I worked among a bright team of Career Ambassadors to coordinate and facilitate outreach events to connect with UNT's student body and inform them about the broad array of services provided by the Career Center for their success. Behind the scenes, we analyzed outreach goals and results to plan workshops and tablings. Additionally, I worked with career coaches to help graduate students and alumni tailor their resumes and CVs, resulting in more callbacks from desired employers. Show less
