  • Experience

    • University of Wollongong

      Apr 2019 - Aug 2019

Developed interactive lecture content for a new undergraduate second-year general chemistry subject (CHEM200), focused on understanding the chemistry of day-to-day life. This was developed using H5P for Moodle compatibility, and included interactive HTML5 modules on natural products, drug discovery and the pharmaceutical industry; antibiotics, their mode of action, and antibiotic resistance; and the environment, water chemistry and pollution. Supervised and led lab classes and tutorials for various undergraduate chemistry courses. These include leading numerous lab courses for first-year general chemistry classes averaging 50-60 students per class, and both second- and third-year courses in general organic chemistry, advanced organic chemistry and organic synthesis, food chemistry, and analytical and environmental chemistry, averaging between 20-40 students per class. Developed synthetic chemistry methodologies for the diversity-oriented synthesis of bioactive heterocycles from indigo dye. This included cascade reactions of indigo with multifunctional propargylic and strained-ring electrophiles, and for desymmetrisation reactions of indigo with substituted organometallic reagents for the synthesis of antiplasmodial 3-substituted-[1H,3'H]-2,2'-diindol-3'-ones. Developed methods for the oxidative diamination of alkenes.
