      I started with CSA TECHNOLOGIES as head technician. Duties included building our own in house brands of PC’s,repairing,upgrading and configuring customers own PC’s also. An extensive and up to date knowledge of PC hardware was required to fulfill customers questions and queries. Telephone support for customer problems was also a very demanding part of the job,sometimes having to guide the customer into fixing software configurations themselves. Other duties were also manning the shop itself from time to time,selling PC’s and peripherals to customers. Ordering of stock and cycle counts were also part of my responsibilities. Show less

      I started my employment as full time tech and shop manager. My duties were sales, repairing customer PC’s and building our own custom PC’s in house. We had several local contracts in Limerick city with small businesses, consisting of basic network and software/hardware support. Other roles in the store were monitoring our web café, selling and ordering shop stock, maintaining the shop to a high standard and dealing with customers. In my time with Intouch computers I learned a great deal, my most enjoyable aspect was building high end custom order PC’s with cutting edge technology and the latest software.       I started a months contract for ENTERASYS,in Shannon Industrial Estate.My shift was Twelve hours,on nights,Mon to Fri.My main duties consisted of making sure all Wyse Terminals were fully operational on the floor,no system hangs or froze applications.I also had to update all PC's ( about 240 ) with new Antivirus scanners, Explorer version 5.5,and other small software apps.When I had the time I also fixed several PC's that had to be repaired.Shortly after I then got a contract for MODUS MEDIA, in Plassey Tech. Park, which was also for a month. My role was somewhat similar to ENTERASYS, but mainly I was low level support, working with two full time IT employee's of MODUS MEDIA. My main duties were repairing and setting up any PC's or laptops that needed configuring, answering any helpdesk questions with software problems and monitoring the tape drive backups on the servers.       My position in PC World was technician / sales advisor in our service department. Duties were vast and varied, multitasking between several jobs at the same time being essential as our workload is normally very hectic, with PC World being the largest walk in repair centre in Munster. Everyday duties were sales, repairing, troubleshooting and upgrading customer PC’s, advising customers and recommending the latest hardware/software solutions, dealing with vendors and manufacturers, troubleshooting our products over the phone, booking jobs with UK based repair centres, co-ordinating with management, sales and head office, and many other numerous daily issues. Having a great knowledge of our vast product range is also essential as clients rely on the advice we give. Our role in PC World is seen as a very important position, as all screening, repair, advice, setup on every product imaginable channels through our department.
