The study would support the development of a new silver mine in the Magadanskaya Oblast region of Russia.My responsibilities were to plan, research and prepare costs of the complete mine site surface infrastructure for a 24/7, 365 days per year operational silver mine.Visited the mine site, liaised with all levels of mining personnel with the investment team, to identify the full project detailed requirements and mine site conditions.Prepared full detailed research and cost reports for the complete working mine infrastructure for a mine camp housing 300 personnel, which included studies into the following areas.• Accommodation and recreation block to house 300 personnel, the accommodation had to cater for temperatures of -50 to +15 degrees C• Water supply and storage.• Electrical trade off review between overhead cable supply and diesel generator sets with recommendations.• Mine surface buildings, including machine and fitting shops, garage maintenance shop, office blocks, change house facilities, fire station, medical centre, mine rescue.• Sewerage treatment plant.• Main access plus mine site road layout and transportation.• Explosive and general stores.• Mine import and export logistics.The value of this section of the project came to $US 25 million, with a total investment of around 120 million $US dollars.   March to May 2013Golden Star Resources Ltd, Ghana, West Africa.Project Engineering Consultant.Recruited directly to support and manage the existing mine shafts upgrade.Having taken mine site visits inspecting two of the mines main shafts, Central and Bondaye shafts, I prepared the inspection reports and then the methodology and implementation study. I was asked to work full time at the mine overseeing the shaft upgrades which was going to start in June 2013, but the mine is not in a position to proceed at the moment.Alan Auld Group.Overseas assignment to Ghana West Africa on a consultancy shaft audit and inspection visit to determine the suitability of an existing man and materials shafts. Completed a full report with recommendations and costing’s to refurbish and improve on the mines output in 2013.Worked on a pre-feasibility study for a new potash mine in the Republic of Congo, the study was to assess the development of two new mine shaft sinks with ventilation and final duty considerations. From this the initial Alan Auld Group study has been agreed in principle and will be used for the main feasibility study being undertaken in 2013.My role was to advise on mine shaft layouts for optimum mine access and product extraction with strict time requirements for the mine development. Discuss with suppliers the best practice and price consideration for the product extraction system and man plus materials access to the mine. This proved areas of engineering expertise that had not been used in mining applications before, one being the largest ever man and materials cage / lift being agreed. The second was the design application of a vertical product conveying system of 250 metres at 1000 tonne of potash per hour to be installed in the mine shaft. Show less
