As well as learning how to manage and coordinate 46 tables at once to maintain an efficient use of space.

  Packaging Engineering Capstone Project: sponsored by Midea.In the fall, I and two other peers performed Amazon 6 Series testing sequence, a full testing protocol and general simulations to test the package’s protection abilities. This sequence was performed on 6 dehumidifiers manufactured by Midea. ISTA-6A testing involves drop and vibration sequences with the use of a Lansmont Drop Tester PTD-300 and the Lansmont Model 10000 Vertical Linear Vibration Table.In the spring, we researched and innovated a new package for the Pelonnis 50-Pint dehumidifier in producing a 100% curbside recyclable package. While researching, we partnered up with the Signode industrial group in which they gracefully provided us with materials and gave helpful advice during our innovation processes. After various prototypes, we ended up with a 4-layer corrugated top and bottom tray design. Including a one-inch honeycomb cross attached to the bottom tray to prevent crushing of the wheels. Additionally, there are four 3-layer multi-wall angle pads on the corners of the dehumidifier with a small honeycomb block to fit the lip of the dehumidifier on the top of the unit. Finishing off the design with another 4-layer corrugated tray and H-taping for security.In our final report and presentation to Midea we included information such as assembly instructions, CAD models, sustainability breakdown, weight and dimensions, our methods, final inspections, testing results. Overall, this project has taught me how to perform ISTA testing, research and design fitted to a certain objective, and communicate with businesses of the cooperate level.   My position is to help engineers innovate and design polymer and metal closures for food packaging. This can be seen in performing quality testing, CT scans, and using various procedural techniques to identify integral aspects of a closure.
