Responsible for the overall delivery, integrity and coherence of the Children’s Services Improvement Programme. Responsible for the direction and management of the programme’s projects and inter-dependencies including active management of risks and issues. Line managed the Business Manager and business team ensuring the service met corporate and business requirements.Key Achievements:- Developed a multi-agency Improvement Plan in response to the Ofsted inspection report which was approved by the DfE, Ofsted and accepted and funded by the County Council Cabinet.- Recruited and managed a programme team to drive through the Improvement Plan including implementing weekly ‘touchdown’ meetings to ensure continued pace of change and engagement of services across the council. Also organised large multi-agency workshops. - Monitored and evidenced progress against the plan and escalated risks and issues.- Responsible for managing the improvement budget of £3m.- Established a positive professional relationship with the DfE appointed Chair of the Improvement Board as well as the operating as the link officer with Ofsted inspectors.- Maintaining high quality programme and project documentation throughout including presenting regular update reports to senior leaders and politicians including Cabinet and the Health and Well-Being Board.- Developed a comprehensive set of Minimum Practice Standards for Social Work and establishing and managing a document repository for all policies, procedures, guidance and processes for children’s social care services. The practice standards and documentation have formed the backbone for the improvement journey.- Instrumental in the development of a five year transformation programme to improve outcomes for vulnerable children whilst managing within a constrained budget envelope.
