Activities and Societies: Guild Of Professional Model makers Australia from 1987. Within Australia at the time I resided in that country, there was a professional guild of model makers, which you had to make an application to join and pass a testing of a panel of your peers to be appointed, either an associate member if you were training or a full member on your completion. This was only available to commercial model makers earning there living from the craft to a professional standard, not hobbyists.

    • Sydney Australia

      Jan 1985 - Jan 1991
      Professional modelmaker

In Sydney after training at one of Sydney's leading modelling studios I established several of my own, in various parts of Sydney. Each producing a vast diversity of work and employing and training up to five modellers full time, while co operating with an incredible collection of highly talented individuals in many disciplines and from many countries. We were one of the first studios to enter into the CAD-CAM era with the secound Australasian computer cutting and detailing machine from America. This was an amazing time to be part of Sydney's large artistic collaborative, and also a buoyant time in there economic growth, which supplied interesting and challenging work to its artisans. Models Pty Ltd in Australia, ( Museum Models and Miniatures Ltd NZ )Always looking for interesting projects to use my diverse skills and learn new ones, as that's what makes a creative life interesting. During this time I ran teams of up to 5 professional model makers and all the compliance that went along with this.I was using CAD drawing programs from 1988 onwards, to run cutting machines until we realised there real benefit was in mass production only. It also removed the creative human aspect to a large degree, which didn't really suit my creative mindset. We use it now where it is useful only. How can we help with your creative objectives?
