I conducted a SWOT analysis and researched best practices from within our own university as well as similar institutions. Based upon research I made suggestions for a formal marketing plan as well as a strategic plan for any events that the department will be hosting, broken down to days before the event to weeks and months prior to. I also made suggestions and a plan for implementation for a marketing request process for anyone within the department who may need PR pieces or marketing collateral. As the semester went on we were able to bring all our findings to the table and work out ways in which each of our research areas could work together. A few highlights from our collaborative efforts include:- a new marketing communication process and implementation plan- a new plan and process for updating all existing websites to be in line with the university's website guidelines and a toolkit for website standards- a new communication process for advising students within the department, as well as PR materials to explain the changes to staff and students- a new way to communication within the department, in the form of a newsletter to showcase work, events and research efforts from faculty and students- a revenue generating strategy for the university newspaper Show less
