Performed and coordinated market and financial analyses of potential acquisition candidates, including preliminary deal structuring, initial due diligence, and participation in negotiations. Coordinated market and competitor studies for specific geographic regions including Spain, India, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, and China. Helped complete a Mining & Metals acquisition in Australia and a JV in the Ethylene Petrochemicals market. The project received Thailand's national award for safest construction site.Engineering manager on a high-pressure Shell hydrocracker unit that was part of a fast track $1.4 billion grassroots oil refinery built for Shell / PTT in Rayong, Thailand. Included a one-year assignment to Fluor Daniel’s Netherland office. Also served as the assistant to the engineering manager for the utilities and offsites portion of the refinery project. Made repeated visits to 5 different equipment vendors that were behind schedule to get final engineering issues resolved and get fabrication back on schedule Show less Part of an $800-million Oil Refinery upgrade for Fina in Antwerp, Belgium. Project included a new atmospheric residue desulfurization unit that increased recovery of sulfur from 15 to 750 tonnes per day; Fluor performed EPCM services. Project engineer for the conceptual design and then the lump sum detailed design of an $800-million upgrading program. Responsible for timely receipt of all vendor data for the project, process licensor interface, and assisted in preparation of construction bid packages. The project enabled the refinery to process a wide range of crude oil and produce light and high-quality products. The major unit was a new Atmospheric Residue Desulfurization (ARDS) unit designed to upgrade bottom-of-the-barrel crude. Show less Fluor was retained as EPCM prime contractor for this Coal-to-Oil mega-complex. It converted 50,000 TPD of low-grade bituminous coal into a variety of petroleum and chemical products. Lived in South Africa for 3.5 years, performing onsite operations technical assistance, plant checkout, start-up assistance, and process engineering design of modifications for the heavy oil upgrading, hydrotreating, and utility units that were part of Sasol's $3 billion synthetic fuel coal-to-oil complex in South Africa.
