  Design-Build Estimating Engineer at the UIG corporate office, involved in the business development group pursuing projects for both bid-build monthly lettings and major design-build projects in the US and internationally. Assisted with take-offs, estimating, analyzing quotes, and bid preparation for the monthly SCDOT lettings and also a few projects for GDOT and NCDOT. On the team leading the pursuit of the I-40/I-440 reconstruction for NCDOT in Raleigh, NC and was responsible for quantity take-offs and assisting with scheduling and bid preparation. Served as a scoping and estimating engineer and assistant design coordinator for UIG's pursuit of a design-build-operate-maintain-finance project that involved the port development and cruise ship pier rehabilitation in Tortola, BVI for the BVI Port Authority. During the 6 months of pursuit on this project in 2013, was responsible for all quantity take-offs, coordinating all parts of the estimate, assisting with setting the project budget, coordination between all design disciplines, review and approval of plans, and scheduling the construction of the project. On the teams preparing the estimates and proposals for two NCDOT design-build projects (I-77 HOT Lanes and I-73 Connector in Greensboro) and worked on preparing estimates for the monthly SCDOT lettings. Lead two teams to implement B2W Estimate as the new estimating system and AccuBuild as the new project management and accounting system for UIG. Other responsibilities have included process and document control improvements for the operations, estimating, and accounting departments, analyzing new methods for electronic tracking of progress in the field, and IT assistance to the other UIG staff. Responsible for assisting with design scoping, value engineering, and design coordination; developing site plans for 100 bridges; completing quantity take-offs; developing RFPs and site specific provisions for 100 bridges; schedule coordination with ten subcontractors and eight permanent material suppliers; verifying survey control points, adjusting roadway profiles for acceptable tie-in conditions, and assisting with survey layout; temporary structure review and acceptance; oversight of safety compliance with OSHA and local laws and tracking of safety performance; verification of crane and rigging selection, load calculations, and detailed lifting plans; erosion control plan approval and monitoring; traffic control plan approval and monitoring; quality control and determining corrective solutions for non-conforming work; analysis of pile hammer criteria, pile driving conditions, and PDA test results and recommendations; and quantity tracking during construction.
