      PHD Researcher

I completed a PhD at TU Delft, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, Department of Structural Engineering - Concrete Structures.PhD thesis: The Influence of Cracks on the Durability and Service Life ofReinforced Concrete Structuresin relation to Chloride-Induced CorrosionA LOOK FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVEPromotor: Prof.dr.ir. Joost WalravenSummary:The service life of concrete structures can be significantly shortened when corrosion of steel reinforcement occurs, especially in a marine environment and in structures exposed to de-icing salts. The influence of load- or deformation-induced cracks on corrosion progress is an important issue which was studied in this research in relation to the durability and service life of reinforced concrete structures. An experimental set-up was designed in order to generate knowledge and contribute to existing codes and practice. The influence of load- and deformation-induced cracks in future codes and regulations, should be limited by defining the maximum allowable steel stress in conjunction with bar diameter and concrete cover at a certain concrete strength under the maximum service load, in order to assure the desired service life of a concrete structure exposed to an aggressive environment. • Concrefy

      Feb 2016 - Jan 2025

3D Concrete Printing (3DCP) will be changing construction world and will lead to one of the most breakthrough technologies in the years to come. Concrefy will focus on the development and application of 3DCP technology in the construction sector. It will enable greater productivity, sustainability and flexibility in future. The main goal of HERAKLES project was to develop printable concrete mix for Bauma event which was held in October 2022. The main goal was to print real concrete with large aggregate size up to 8-11,2 mm. Long term goal and focus will be on creating 3DC4 (3D Concrefy’s Concrete Competence Centre) in future. Show less Key responsibilities:- Lead key projects within R&D to support business goals- Set project goals and priorities by collaborating with bussines units - Coordinate activities to ensure that the project is running according to planning, within the budget set and maintaining the objectives- Understand customer expectations on the future R&D directions and to-be developed products- Set departmental and individual employee goals within R&D and provide routine evaluations of progress toward these goals- Develop and oversee budgets and policies and procedures for the R&D department- Support director to hire and develop additional R&D staff- Evaluate research tools and cuting-edge technologies - Establishing a good working relationship with all involved parties, managing and motivating the project teams Show less Project Manager of the INTERREG project - Asset Management 2.0 (2016 - 2019)Project Description:The applied research is carried out in cooperation with many industrial partners, public authorities and research institutes. The increasing demand for a concept which transfer concrete performance indicators to simplified solutions for the decision-makers, opens a generous opportunity for the next generation of Asset Management. The main challenge addressed by the project is how to increase the insight into the concrete-health and create a Decision Support Tool for infrastructure managers. Show less Doka Concremote is innovative approach which provides the most optimum costs for desired cycles time by simulating, modulating and actual monitoring of the key performance indicator during construction operations – early age concrete compressive strength gain.Headquartered in Venlo, Netherlands, since its foundation in 1979 the technology company B|A|S has concerned itself with researching and developing the materials used in the construction industry – particularly concrete.Holistic business model is all about how the entire process from planning through construction to maintenance and ultimately demolition of the structure and disposal of the waste materials can be made more and more efficient. This is precisely where B|A|S has focused its research and development activities. In its own concrete laboratory facilities – B|A|S is Holland's market leader in concrete testing and has one of the biggest and most advanced labs in Europe – material samples are analyzed and interpreted, but not simply to optimize the act of building alone. The specialists also survey existing structures to gauge their condition and make recommendations for rehab measures and maintenance over any building's remaining lifespan.B|A|S is a global concrete technology research centre of Doka Group. Doka is a world leader in developing, manufacturing and distributing formwork technology for use in all fields of the construction sector. With more than 160 sales and logistics facilities in over 70 countries, the Doka Group has a high-performing distribution network which ensures that equipment and technical support are provided swiftly and professionally. An enterprise forming part of the Umdasch Group, the Doka Group employs a worldwide workforce of more than 6000. Show less
