      2009 - 2013
      Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Physiology

Activities and Societies: American Physiological Society, Society of Toxicology, and American Heart Association My graduate research demonstrated that airway exposure to carbon-based nanomaterials can alter coronary artery function in the heart. In severe situations, such changes could worsen heart attack. While these findings have implications for occupational health, I predict that similar coronary responses occur after exposure to air pollution. Thus, my graduate research experience paved the way for my postdoctoral research at U.S. EPA and together they allow me to contribute to scientific guidance… Show more My graduate research demonstrated that airway exposure to carbon-based nanomaterials can alter coronary artery function in the heart. • Lumberton Senior High School

      1997 - 2000
      High School Diploma
    • University of North Carolina at Pembroke

      2005 - 2008
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Biology, General

Activities and Societies: Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society At UNC Pembroke I excelled in biological sciences and established a fundamental appreciation for chemistry. I also received an excellent introduction to research. It was here I realized my desire to pursue a career in advanced research. Most importantly, being a student at UNC Pembroke solidified the foundation to my success: the courage to share my ideas with the experts and ask them my biggest questions.
