  Started as a PLC programmer at Turmac Tobacco Company implementing a new section of the plant . After the knowledge dump to the regular maintenance crew I became more and more involved in connecting systems that were used for administrative automation. I also got involved in programming those systems.

  As a member of the group "research en techniek" I had the mission to implement and integrate the newly announced IBM AS/400 internally as well as with customers. This included performance analysis and error detection and forwarding improvement suggestions to the development teams.

  System Programmer

  Started at Consist as a system programmer for one of their software solutions for AS/400 (FMS). Played a leading role when the need multi-platform solutions of their product-line became apparent. After the one-source migration engine concept to Unix had been realized I became part of the IBM SF-framework team. The idea was to design a new product-line based on Java and SF which would be multi-platform by design.

  As a member of the Global IT (GIT) team responsible for the IBS global network. The group succesfully consolidated resources from the different country organisation to a limited number of Datacenters and provided a stable infrastructure in between. IBM i as well as x86 server were consolidated. VMware ESX virtualzation was utilized to consolidate the x86 part of the shop.

  After the take-over by Unit4 I partly reversed the activities executed within GIT. The Consist activities got disentangled from the IBS Infra and were brought back home (Nieuwegein). Further integration within the Unit4 structure followed as a next step.

  Working as a sysops engineer at Mirabeau. Focus within our team is setting up and supporting customers running applications in the cloud on AWS and Linux. In order to provide "infrastructure as code implementations" we use tools like Ansible, CloudFormation, and Puppet. My main responsibility lies within the operations team: incident, request and problem management.

  As a Devops team member I helped implement, migrate, manage, monitor, modernize and optimize customer enterprise environments. Took part in several teams that designed and implemented CI/CD pipelines streamlining the deployment lifecycle by automating many of the tasks involved in software delivery. In a more self-employed role I introduced new tools, workflows and encouraged customer adoption to ensure a smooth transition. Besides I helped out customer development teams whence they got stuck.   Designed and started implemention of an open source observability stack (Grafana) for one of our customers. The stack is powered by AWS EKS and managed by ISaC using Terraform for Infra- and Argocd for Application-code configuration.
