    • University of Sussex Migration Law Clinic

      Sept 2019 - Apr 2021
      Immigration Student Advisor

The University of Sussex Law Clinic provides free legal advice on Employment Law, Family Law, Housing Law and Criminal Justice Law issues, drawing on our academic expertise and legal practice links. Since 2019 it provides free legal advice on Migration Law issues also. It essentially provides a public service to those in the surrounding communities who seek legal advice, whilst also providing law students of the university with a ‘hands-on’ academic learning experience. Under the supervision of a registered solicitor or barrister our final year law students offer immigration and asylum legal advice on a pro bono (cost-free) basis. This unique learning experience allows students to develop and improve their practical legal skills in a supervised academic environment whilst helping clients. My role this year was working as a student advisor within the Migration Law Clinic, which offers advice surrounding immigration matters like asylum, family reunification and human rights claims. My role involved contacting clients, gaining relevant information, attending interviews, writing advice letters, creating bundles and working with solicitors on cases. Show less
