  Starting as an assistant engineer I advanced my knowledge working under experienced management teams and worked my way up to Site Manager. During this period I was involved in the construction of variety of projects including factory units, offices, retail outlets, hospital and a health centre.

  I was responsible for a number of contracts at any one time both Design & Build and JCT with Quantities. Projects included work in the electronics, retail, pub restaurant and industrial sectors. I completed a variety of D&B and JCT with quantities contracts, initially as Site Manager and subsequently as Project Manager. Sectors included supermarkets, pub/restaurants, office accommodation and industrial.

  Project Manager

  As Project Manager I was responsible for delivering the New Wolfsen Medical School building for Glasgow University. This prestigious building was awarded "best public project" in 2003 in the Scottish Design awards and was included in the Prospect 100 best Modern Scottish buildings rankings in 2005. It incorporated pressure grout soil stabilisation, pre-cast concrete piles, monolithic concrete foundations and basement floor slab, concrete retaining walls, structural steel frame, curved structural glazing hung off the steel frame, stone cladding and Sto render. 16m long structural glass beams - believed to be the first ever use of glass engineering at this scale - support the sheer glass atrium roof. Internally it involved substantial M&E including fully functional mock wards and was finished to very high standard and to the satisfaction of our client. Show less

  I was instrumental in the review and implementation of improvements in site processes & procedures and in developing site staff with the company embracing larger more complex projects. While at CBC I augmented my experience in a wide range of projects from schools, sport and leisure, social housing, industrial, health, care homes, places of worship and office accommodation. Working closely with our own site teams while at the same time developing relations with our clients and sub-contractors.
