  • Operate the Electron Discharge Machine (EDM) to cut material samples used for testing by graduate students. • Oversee the machine shop and assist graduate students with the operation of the mill, lathe, rolling machine, and band saw.• Diagnose machine breakdowns and purchase replacement parts priced between $100 and $1200 from vendors and install onto machine. This saves the department $5000 with each repair that would normally require a technician to come out to fix the machine.

  • Designed suspension kinematics and machined suspension components• Lead over 100 hours of track testing and optimized vehicle suspension setup• Communicate with the three other team leads and the project manager to facilitate a cohesive car design. • Lead a weekly suspension team meeting to oversee the progress of all six team members as well as the overall suspension design.• Contact sponsors to assist in raising and managing the $50,000 budget for this year. • Designed entire dynamometer assembly in SolidWorks and then fabricated the frame and mounting brackets to mount the engine, gas tank, battery, radiator, water brake absorber, and driveshaft cover to one easily moveable frame.• Researched the feasibility of designing and building a water brake or eddy current absorber.• Purchased a Stuska water brake absorber after conclusive research proved making our own absorber would be more expensive.
