      The Prospect Research Unit is the first and best source of information on the University’s donors and prospective donors. Using a variety of subscribed databases and directories, Prospect Research Analysts identify new potential donors, determine philanthropic priorities and match those with University needs.This position reports to the Manager, Prospect Research. The position has the administrative responsibility for evaluating and processing admissions applications from graduate programs on campus, acts as a liaison and resource for students, graduate departments, faculties and administrative units on campus. - Evaluates, creates and updates computer records for each Canadian, US and International application for all graduate admissions- Identifies appropriate admission documentation required and advises department of faculty documentation requirements to complete application- Responsible for monitoring the progress of all admission applications in order to ensure timely decision making and notification to applicants- Verifies documentation in select files to confirm completeness, authenticity and accuracy- Serves as a resource for students and departments regarding inquiries on policy and procedure for domestic and international admissions by advising applicants and students in-person, by email, and by telephone with inquiries related to their admission- Confirms authenticity of documents and updates student records to clear conditions on admissions- Evaluates and processes transfer credit requests from departments; this involves calculation of GPAs from other grading systems, an assessment of international credit systems and an evaluation of post-secondary work Show less - Main point of contact for the Office of Advancement, Student Financial Support (Registrar Office), and the Office of Stewardship regarding new awards set up, recipients list request, and awards record keeping- Assesses documentation and eligibility requirements for all awards applications, and follows up with departments and students when requirements are not met - Verifies and authorizes all award payments generated for award recipients every semi-monthly pay period deadline- Ensures that eligibility requirements are maintained by awards holders throughout the tenure of their award- Advises prospective and current students, alumni, and 70 plus department/non-departmentalized Faculty personnel (in person, by email and phone), about in-person and online procedures; directs them to relevant U of A and/or FGSR policies- Organizes, plans and manages the administration of scholarship competitions; compiles scholarship applications and nomination packages; organizes and shares adjudication materials with GSC adjudicators- In consultation with the Awards Services Supervisor, assists in the coordination of informational workshops for Tri-Agency scholarship competitions, such as, booking rooms, preparing presentation materials (handouts, PowerPoint presentation), confirming speakers, and promoting events to students Show less - Manages current awards and administrative processes to set up new awards in both the GSMS Awards management system and offline systems (paper files)- Provides administrative support to the facilitates communication between the Office of Registrar, the Office of Recording Secretary, and the Financial Administrator with various audit reports and information- Award competition management (Graduate Student Travel Awards) - Supporting FGSR participation in the Annual Killam meetings and luncheon- Providing administrative support to the FGSR Awards team, including assisting with the Travel Award competition and other competitions as required throughout the year Show less
