      Area Coordinator

      From May to August, I worked as an Area Coordinator for the Recreation department at the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. In this role I directed, administered and evaluated the activities of summer programs; provided support, supervised and evaluated approximately 25 staff in my area; collaborated with and provided support to other Area Coordinators; planned and organized special events such as the CK Youth Festival and Summer Camp Carnival; and oversaw and controlled my budget, staff scheduling, site visits, and ordering supplies.From September to December, I continued with the Recreation department and provided soccer programs to children between the ages of three to ten where I taught them the rules to the game, developed their skills and built teamwork.       As Youth Program Coordinator, I took the lead role in the development and implementation of youth activities and events; liaised with Neighbourhood Groups, Community Centres and City Youth Services staff regarding activities, drop in programs and events; developed and promoted youth-related information through social media; created and managed the Youth Services website; and provided on-site supervision and leadership to Guelph Youth Council.I also was responsible for developing the 2013-2018 Youth Strategy for the City of Guelph through consultations with local youth, community members and City staff which consisted of in-depth research of youth engagement best practices, developing and distributing the Guelph Youth Survey, developing and facilitating youth focus groups, consultations with City staff and youth service providers, analyzing data from over 700 youth, and chairing the Youth Strategy Steering Committee.
