OFFICE BACKGROUNDEric Connolly Architect was established 1989. Since 2007, this mid-sized Firm has been based in a renovated 19th century manse in the historic downtown area in Georgetown, Ontario. The principals' background is mainly in the area of institutional and residential projects. The nature of a "small-town" practice has brought a wide range of project types to the offices' attention.ORGANIZATIONThe Firm employs 4 to 6 staff. The principal takes a "hands-on" approach to all projects throughout their various stages from design to contract administration. The office is also able to draw on additional local drafting consultants when workload demands. ARCHITECT – CLIENTThe complexities of obtaining various approvals leading to the implementation of a building Project have lead to a real need for a consultant to act as a liaison between the Client and the Municipality. Eric Connolly Architect has often provided Preconsultation Services to Clients looking toward a Building Project. Often these Preconsultations have led to Feasibility Studies for Corporate or Public Organizations as a precursor to the traditional Architectural Services. The Firm has a great deal of experience facilitating Projects which have a Committee Organization acting as Client. We feel have demonstrated an ability to effectively work with Committees providing direction and advice to implementing a Construction Project.DESIGN PRINCIPALSOur design principals stem from the idea of “good design manners”. It is never our intent to impose a design style or solution on a Client. We see it as our job to provide clients with our perspective on a given projects design parameters and potentials and to explore design alternatives with our clients. We see a design solution as an evolution of ideas which are illicited from the Client, the Building Code, the Building Programme and Budget, Energy Conservation and the Nature of the Surrounding Environment.
