      Work Experience at Taw and Torridge County Council

      Self-initiated work experience at Taw and Torridge County Council provided me with an understanding of the inner workings of a local government and the manner in which problem-solving can be used on a large scale. It also allowed me to appreciate the need for different stakeholders in the planning process, with general planning being assisted through the use of a regional plan and vision for the area.       Work Experience at the Met Office Headquaters

      Attended a variety of different seminars discussing the role of the Met Office and the services it provides. Oral communication allowed for the presentation of information in a clear and concise manner. This presentation was to over 50 individuals with many holding detailed industry knowledge. This experience also provided an insight into the technology and processes used to analyse vast amounts of data and draw conclusions helping to move scientific data to commercial spheres. Organised myself and others, via clear communication in both formal and informal settings, within a team in order to meet deadlines to tasks provided and balance different tasks within the same time period. Worked effectivley within a team to complete problem-solving activities and synthesise ideas into a presentable format. Show less

      Programme Support Officer

      Working as a Programme Support Officer across a broad range of environmental and social projects (Nature, Circular Economy, Mineral Resource Governance) to support the ICMM workplan. Developed key skills in desktop research and report writing. This includes producing reports on occupation health and safety, organisational briefing notes on the nature positive landscape, and an internal report addressing the Circular Economy and its role in mining.Engagement with a range of stakeholders to help further sustainability in the extractive sector including the UN Environment Programme, the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, and the Convention on Biological Diversity. I also worked with a range of consultants on several projects including the creation of a Request for Proposal, to project completion and suggested next steps.Leadership skills were strengthened through my role in developing a three-year Circular Economy Strategy and vision for the ICMM, and my position in identifying and proposing methods to further ICMM project integration. I also acted as a core member of the Nature Project, helping to orchestrate ICMM involvement in the Cross-Sector Biodiversity Initiative, whilst maintaining ICMM Nature commitments and understanding the important role nature positive will play in the near future.
