      The summer before Sibo's senior year at Spelman College, she interned at the Public Defender Service for DC as an Intern Investigator. Sibo's responsibilities included drafting memoranda for attorney and clients regarding investigative activities, conducting client meetings at DC correctional and treatment facilities, and locating and interviewing witnesses. Sibo also photographed, diagrammed, and measured crime scenes, and took witness statements. Throughout the summer, Sibo regularly attended preliminary hearings, status hearings, arraignments, trials, and sentencing hearings in DC Superior Court. Show less

      Sibo volunteered during her 1L year at a domestic violence agency that provided services to victims of domestic violence in DC. Sibo also regularly attended monthly Domestic Violence Advocacy meetings.

Sibo also spent a substantial amount of time on pro bono work, including assisting with an Alabama death row appeal and participating in a U.S. Vets legal clinic for homeless veterans. Sibo regularly conducted client, witness, and intake interviews, and counseled and educated her clients about domestic violence patterns and protection.       Sibo represented clients in a broad range of complex commercial litigation matters, including satellite television provider disputes, breach of contract, business torts, fraud, toxic torts, products liability, personal injury, and class action suits. Her litigation experience included taking and defending numerous depositions, conducting witness preparations, and drafting summary judgment and adjudication motions, demurrers, mediation briefs, motions in limine, post-trial briefs, settlement agreements, joint stipulations, and letters to arbitrators and opposing counsel. Sibo also developed discovery plans, drafted discovery requests and responses, prepared document productions, conducted massive document reviews, and independently led discovery meet and confer sessions with opposing counsel. Throughout her three years at Kirkland, Sibo worked on several jury trial and arbitration teams, including a contractual dispute with a television network regarding a packaging commitment, a complex contractual and labor claim dispute against multiple defendants, an accounting fraud and breach of contract arbitration, and a toxic tort action involving products liability and personal injury claims. Sibo played an integral role on each trial team, and her contributions included drafting direct and cross-examination questions, creating slide presentations for opening statements and closing arguments, negotiating and drafting jury instructions, preparing witnesses for examinations, and maintaining and overseeing extensive exhibit lists. Sibo also devoted a substantial amount of time to pro bono work. She regularly represented indigent clients in traffic court proceedings, U Visa applications, and affordable housing claims, and received the firm’s annual pro bono award three years in a row.       Sibo specialized in employee benefits litigation and represented clients in complex litigation disputes involving breaches of contract, breaches of fiduciary duty, pension plan terminations, and violations of ERISA and the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act. Her research and writing experience included drafting briefs in support of and in opposition to motions for summary judgment, motions to dismiss, motions to stay, and various discovery motions. In addition, Sibo's litigation practice involved assisting clients with investigations conducted by the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission, by preparing witnesses for interviews, researching and analyzing complex legal issues, performing document review, and negotiating and drafting tolling agreements. She also advised employers on compliance with ERISA regulations and provided guidance on interpreting and applying various sections of their code of conduct and ethics policies, plan expense policies, and procedures for processing long-term disability claims. Sibo regularly researched and drafted Commission-level and Bureau-level orders resolving appeals of decisions related to E-rate funding requests, with an expertise in the Commission's competitive bidding rules to ensure that schools and libraries were bidding for services in a manner that was fair, open, and cost-effective. She also focused on First Amendment issues as they related to public libraries' compliance with the Children's Internet Protection Act and their duty to block or filter Internet access to certain visual depictions. Her responsibilities included negotiating and drafting content acquisition and distribution agreements with a wide variety of content providers (i.e., premium networks, film studios, cable television networks, broadcast stations, international programmers) for multiple distribution platforms, including traditional linear television, video on-demand, TV Everywhere, and over-the-top services. Sibo regularly advised senior business executives on all legal issues related to content acquisition and distribution, as well as the product team on copyright issues and contractual risks associated with new programming products and services, such as the new "Altice One" device and future TVE/OTT platforms. Sibo also provided legal guidance for digital and new media rights (i.e., Start Over/Look Back, fast-forward disablement, download rights, content parity protections) and marketing/advertising rights (i.e., cross-channel promotion, dynamic ad insertion).       At Starz, Sibo negotiated, drafted and interpreted a wide range of agreements involving the Starz services and the Starz app, including:- Distribution license agreements and marketing agreements for the Starz services via all distribution platforms, including OTT platforms (i.e., Amazon Prime Video Channels, Apple TV+, The Roku Channel) and traditional cable platforms (i.e., Comcast, Dish); - Retail partnership agreements, app developer agreements, and marketing agreements for the direct-to-consumer STARZ App via all app stores (i.e., Apple Store, Google Play, Amazon Fire); and - Content acquisition license agreements with independent distributors, as well as studio library and output agreements with major studios, to acquire content for the Starz services across multiple distribution platforms.Additionally, Sibo regularly advised and counseled business teams and company executives on the legal implications of various business decisions, including identifying potential legal risks and recommending strategic business solutions in order to promote the growth of the company and facilitate the successful distribution and marketing of the Starz services and brand.
