  Data Manager for the OTS project since 2001. OTS is a crash investigation project that ran from 2000-2010. The OTS study used multi-disciplinary teams of police officers, scientists and engineers trained in crash investigation to attend road traffic collisions minutes after they had occurred. Responsible for the day-to-day management and quality control of all case studies, defining and implementing the training requirements for accident investigators, the quality control of cases and amending data and reconstructing accidents where required. Has in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the data collection procedures and practices, and has produced the protocols for on-scene data collection. Jim also provided analysis of the OTS database for the DfT for numerous projects. Jim regularly attended road traffic accidents as lead investigator for the OTS team. Show less

  Road Accident In-Depth Study (RAIDS) Investigator

  Investigation of road traffic incidents both on scene & by retrospective investigation of vehicles for the DfT. The project follows on from, and incorporates the long running government sponsored OTS (On-the-Spot) project concerning primary safety, the CCIS (Co-operative Crash Injury Study) concerned with injury causation, crashworthiness and occupant protection & the HVCIS (Heavy Vehicle Crash Injury Study) concerned with providing protection for other road users.
