Center for Neurotrauma, Neuroproteomics, & Biomarkers Researcher

•Trained to work with rodents through IACUC and completed aseptic technique training for rat surgery.•Generated cardiac arrest model to determine the extent of TBI from various degrees of cardiac arrest. •Performed and assisted in cardiothoracic and brain surgical procedures on rats to study TBI following cardiac arrest.•Prepared tissue samples for frozen tissue sectioning and processed blood samples to study the distal effects of TBI.

    • Dance Marathon at the University of Florida

      Jan 2021 - Jul 2022
      Dance Marathon Ambassador

      • Liaison between DM and SigEp coordinating with sorority pair to execute fundraising events, relay information regarding Dance Marathon flash fundraising events, and boost morale and brother turnout.• Increased current fundraising from previous years by 172% and brother engagement by 248%.

    • Dream Team Engineering

      Jan 2021 - Feb 2023
      MRI Team

MRI Team, Mechanical Subteam •Design and generate 3D prints in SolidWorks of the components required for creating an interactive model MRI to prepare patients for the procedure to improve patient care, image quality, and patient anxiety. •Reduced size of individual parts in model to allow for printing in-house, saving over $4000 in production costs.•Developed 3D printed head and body coils to better simulate the MRI environment for pediatric patients.

    • UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering

      Apr 2022 - Jan 2023
      Research Assistant

The Human Neuromechanics Laboratory (HNL) is a research laboratory that focuses on the neural control and biomechanics of human locomotion. We use a range of techniques in biomechanics, neuroscience, and biomedical engineering to study how humans walk and run, both in health and disability. Within this lab, I work on the Mind in Motion Project wherein I:• Oversee data collection on test subjects. Prepping subject for procedure through electrode gelling and application, 3D head-scan mapping, IMU synchronization, and interacting with patients to ensure they are comfortable throughout the test.• Train new undergraduates to be proficient in carrying out the entirety of the 7 hour data collection protocol. • Congregate electroencephalography (EEG) data from human testing and conduct signal processing in MATLAB to understand brain activity during walking and its decline over time. • Florida Diabetes Camp

      Jul 2022 - Aug 2022
      Camp Counselor

•Collaborated with pediatric endocrinologists and nursing staff daily to calibrate basal rates and carbohydrate ratios to stabilize blood glucose levels in camp children ranging from 9-11 years old•Corrected and maintained childrens’ blood sugars by administering insulin via injection or through preexisting pump sites, replacing insulin pods and pump sites, and giving snacks to correct low blood sugars.•Worked on-call night shifts and performed rounds to ensure assigned cabin had stable blood glucose levels throughout the night, working until 3AM for the most accurate and steady levels.•Coordinated with recreational staff and other camp counselors to generate a fun learning environment to aid newly diagnosed children live with type 1 diabetes ranging from water to land sports, to art and learning activities.
