      Work undertaken whilst in this role included: • Assisted a contract grower producing chickens for the company, including daily checks, maintenance and improving performance. • Design and development of an Ethical Free-Range Broiler Unit which produces birds to the highest standard of welfare. • Production of a set of welfare standards that focuses on bird wellbeing rather than the environment in which the bird is produced.• Day to Day management of an Ethical Free-Range Broiler Unit.• Liaising with the Farm Manager, Feed Mill and Catching Crew.• Accompanying both the company vet and RSPCA around the farms, gaining a different perspective on production.The role required a high level of time management, organising tasks throughout the day to be time and staff efficient. Within the design of the brand-new unit there posed many issues which required addressing on an almost daily basis. High levels of communication were required as many different areas of the company were involved in designing the unit, from marketing requiring a 2.5Kg bird, to the feed mill formulating a specialised diet for the unit. These attributes were also useful during lone-working when on- call out of hours. Achievements included increased confidence in roles of responsibility, problem solving, lone working and hitting key performance targets. Show less
