  Through Ladders for Leaders, I received the the opportunity to work as an intern in the Forensic Biology Department at the the NYC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. I mostly performed clerical tasks such as data entry, retrieving, printing and scanning case files. Opportunities such as lectures and events were also available to me such as talks with the Chief Medical Examiner and touring the facility of medical examiner's office which hosts the morgue.   Ladders for Leaders internship that landed me right where I wanted to be. In a medical setting whether it be in the doctor's office or a health center. I got the opportunity to work in a health center as an intern at the reception. Although my tasks were clerical, being in such a setting at Brightpoint Health allowed me to develop patient interaction and develop my communication skills. As an intern, my task involved the general scanning, printing, sorting, opening and sending out mails, and checking in and out patients. This internship opened my eyes in many ways about the health care system and it is definitely one that I want to be apart of. Show less
