Analyzed information and provided daily status reports to the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and senior staff on all ongoing responses and threats. Built, managed, and trained a matrixed staff from diverse backgrounds to provide 24/7 coverage, Procured and implemented ETeam (emergency management program) to allow emergency management function to be available real time to all HHS EOCs Identified functional and space requirements for the HHS SCC, Developed HHS SCC staffing requirements, recruited staff, and ensured the facility was continually staffed with trained officers. Developed policy related to HHS SCC functions and interactions with other Emergency Operations Centers (EOC) including those of the Office of Emergency Preparedness’, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s), and the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) and facilitated coordination of the activities of the HHS EOCs. Developed and coordinated the National Nurses’ Response Team with the American Nurses’ Association (ANA), PHS, and the Chief Nurse to provide a cadre of nurses that can be federalized to respond when mass prophylaxis and immunizations are required – the teams became part of the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) Show less
