  Flotilla Engineer

  I worked as a Flotilla Engineer running a fleet of between 10-12 Beneteau sailing yachts, differing in size from 31ft. to 54ft. The role required a team of 3, including the Skipper, Engineer and Hostie to run the 1 or 2 week holidays for the holiday makers while sailing around the north and south Ionian sea. This included (as an Engineer):- Briefing clients on where they will be travelling to each day, helping clients yachts to leave ports and also bringing yachts into new marinas.- Briefing clients on how to use all the goods below deck and using the engine properly- Being available for any breakdowns, emergencies and any other situations, including storm bound days protecting the boats- Being available 24/7 should clients require any help with anything or any problems that arise and being visible and professional throughoutThe engineer role:-As an individual, fixing or replacing parts of a diesel engine, including propellors and shafts, linkages, gearbox, throttle, cables, fuel tanks and batteries.- Fixing other items including Electrical issues for the engine and domestic appliances, plumbing throughout the yacht, including toilets, replacing broken fittings and gas items including hobs and anything below deck.
