  I was taught traditional classes of arithmetic, science, history, grammar and social classes. We had a 40 acre mini-farm where I was able to learn many practical classes; cooking, gardening, animal husbandry (horses, cattle, hogs, sheep, goats, poultry, etc.), fruit and vegetable agriculture (fruit trees, berries, gardens, etc.), personal finances, welding & metal fabrication, woodworking, various forms of art, small engine repair, automotive mechanics, heavy equipment mechanics, archery… Show more I was taught traditional classes of arithmetic, science, history, grammar and social classes. We had a 40 acre mini-farm where I was able to learn many practical classes; cooking, gardening, animal husbandry (horses, cattle, hogs, sheep, goats, poultry, etc.), fruit and vegetable agriculture (fruit trees, berries, gardens, etc.), personal finances, welding & metal fabrication, woodworking, various forms of art, small engine repair, automotive mechanics, heavy equipment mechanics, archery, firearm marksmanship, sewing, felting, processing wool into yarn and thread, weaving (baskets, etc.), fish husbandry, hunting & fishing, food processing (butchering, harvesting, canning, dry storage, cold storage, etc.), soap making, tanning leather, basic survival skills, basic first aid, basic blacksmithing, overview of American laws and legal system, biology, botany, astronomy, etc. We were taught a little of everything; usually with hands-on experiences.
