Creasman, presented a Distinguished Community Partnership plaque toPEACE Ranch acknowledging five years of dedicated service to American Veterans. Since 2013, over500 Veterans and their family members have received Equine Assisted Psychotherapy through the Equine Assisted Veterans Services (EAVS) program at PEACE Ranch. This cutting edge, clinical intervention has helped Veterans from all eras dealing with combat related trauma, military sexual trauma and a broad range of other issues like addiction and depression. PEACE Ranch donates 100% of these services to help Veterans which are underwritten by program sponsors including the Yagle Brother's Marine Corp. League, Traverse City Elks Club, Schmuckal Oil Co., Schmuckal Family Foundation and the Oleson Foundation.PEACE Ranch offers clinical counseling which uses horses in an experiential model called EAGALA(Equine Assisted Growth And Learning Association). Facilitators are specifically certified to work withmilitary personnel and those who have experienced military culture. No horseback riding is involved and no prior experience with horses is necessary. Rather people explore their treatment goals experientially, creating their story metaphorically through hands on activities with the horses and external landscape. Exploration leads to personal discovery as they identify issues and practice their solutions in an emotionally safe environment. This sensory oriented approach is producing life changing results as people find resolution and become more comfortable, confident and connected in their community. Show less
