  SAICA (South African Institute of Chartered Accountants) allow universities to make use of academically strong trainees, after passing the Honours Degree as Assistants to lecturers for one year. This academic trainee programme is recognised as part of the practical training a potential CA must go through. I was awarded academic honours by the Academic Council of the North-West University in 2010 for academic achievement by passing Baccalaureus Commercii with distinction. I was also part of the top 10 students in the honours class and was therefore given the opportunity to be academic trainee. Directly after passing my Honours Degree in 2010 I worked for one year at the university. My role included limited lecturing in Taxation, facilitation of study sessions for students, translation of study material from Afrikaans to English, setting papers, marking of test and examination and general assistance to the Taxation lecturers Show less

  The Auditor General of South Africa (AGSA) is the supreme audit institution in South African and is responsible for all national, provincial and local government audits. The AGSA do risk based financial audits as well as service delivery audits and audits on compliance to laws and regulations. Each financial audit include audit of all items in the financial statements. Audit engagements at the AGSA are done on TEAMMATE that makes use of Microsoft Excel for the preparation of working papers.As technical manager I am responsible for hands-on support to audit teams, implementation of new developments in the audit field and consistency and peer reviews. I am alsofully involved in at least one audit during each cycle, either in a supporting role to the audit manager or as an audit manager myself.I am also responsible for the practical management of the SAICA training programme for approximately 70 trainees unit under the lead of a Training officer.
