  During my time at Burton Farmhouse, I have developed my role within the establishment - initially starting as a waitress during weddings, I progressed to have more waiting responsibilities during varying shifts, to having bar staff duties and front of house roles. Over the past 4 years, I have become an integral part of the team, therefore gaining further responsibilities within my role including welcoming & checking in guests, helping the housekeeping team, dealing with bookings & enquiries - both online and over the phone, sorting bills for departing guests, check-out, prepping food, checking orders & stock, setting up for events & functions. Working for my employer for this time period, has meant that I have gained their trust and respect, which has helped me to develop my role quickly and prove how well I work within a multi-skilled team whilst communicating efficiently and quickly between both my colleagues and guests.   Institute of Hospitality (IOH) Society at Plymouth University

  As Chairman of the society, I am responsible for ensuring that the committee functions efficiently throughout the year, with tasks such as the organising and running of meetings to ensure that all issues are discussed and handled in an appropriate and organised manner, whilst making sure that every member within the committee understands the tasks that we all must complete in order to make sure our society is run successfully. I also communicate and liaise with members of staff within the University and the Faculty of Business regarding committee plans and events, as well as with potential guest speakers, regarding future networking events and opportunities. The Institute of Hospitality (IOH) Society is a newly created society within the Faculty of Business at Plymouth University. As this is the first year of the society, our main aims are to establish ourselves as a recognised society among students from all stages of Hospitality, Tourism and Cruise related courses, through promotion and the creation of events and networking opportunities, as well as giving students the opportunity to meet others from different years of study, creating a 'community' within our degrees, which will hopefully benefit students.
