  The Academic Medical Hospital (AZM) of Maastricht requested Zuydlab to organically synthesize inosinemonophosphate. I researched the possibilities of synthesis to get to the intermediate products of inosinemonophosphate with a ribose as a starting point. The first intermediate product was succesfully made.

  Research of controlled release controls (CRC) for granular fertilizers. Activities included adding pesticides, extra nutrients and the like as a coating to enhance the performance of the products, from small lab scale to pilot scale, development of a biodegradable coating, maintaining contacts with suppliers of R&D materials and developing new methods.

  Lab manager for the chemistry lab (20 fume hoods) within CHILL. Responsible for the safety, projects, planning and clients/students working in the chemistry lab. Providing practical and theoretical guidance to vocational, bachelor and master students during their internships, minors or thesis. Giving Boost courses to professionals and students in flow chemistry. During this time a chemical database and 5s audit system was set-up for all the labs within CHILL. Transition and incorporation of Zuyd Hogeschool synthesis lab within this chemistry lab. Advisor of the workgroup on the Brightlands Chemelot Campus for a replacement chemical safety system. New equipment invested in the lab with a 60 MHz tabletop NMR, automated flash/prep system, spin coater, UV ozone chamber, microwave reactor, microreactors (lab and pilot scale) and electrolysis equipment. Back-up for the analytical chemistry lab which included a GC-MS/FID, HPLC-PDA/RI, GPC-RI, ESR, FTIR, Karl-Fischer and other small equipment. Involved in projects ranging from (analytical) chemistry, (chemical) engineering, microbiology, material characterization to 3D printing. Topics included in the projects, but not limited to, are organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, antimicrobial coatings, flow chemistry, polymer chemistry, adhesives, food supplements and peptide synthesis.   Teamleader within a QC laboratory specialised in finished products for the pharmaceutical industry providing lead to a team of 10 analysts. Responsible for leading the team, planning, troubleshooting in combination with providing corrective and preventive actions, client contact, maintaining quality and safety standards in the lab, making sure the team was properly trained. Part of the team that made sure the infrastructure was set to quickly perform part of the quality analysis necessary for a Covid-19 vaccin.Learned the hard way during this job that working under the guidelines of GMP is not my forte as it limits the creativity and flexibility I would like to express in my work.
