Budget $380,000+ Curtin Link-Up is aspiration raising program for identified low socio-economic status high school students via the implementation of a scaffolded in-school program as well as university campus programs targeting selected students from years 8 to 12. The aim of the program was to raise the educational as well as personal aspirations of low SES students to consider university as a post school option. These groups included indigenous students; linguistically and culturally diverse students; students with disabilities; first in family to attend University; First generation Australians and Refugees.Achievements include:Endorsement by:The Curtin University Human Research and Ethics Committee;The Education Department of WA to undertake research;Curriculum Council endorsement to implement, in a longer term strategy, in all schools;The development of programs in collabration with the Clontarf Aborginal CollegeImplementation of programs to Access Students at Swan View High School comprising both Indigenous and non-indigenous students prior to greater implementation within the school. Liaison and introduction of other programs provided by other Curtin University Department.Written endorsement from the AIME - Australian Indigenous Mentoring Program as well as from School Principals and supervising teachers.Qualitative and quantitative Research data supporting the findings of the Bradley Review, as well as student and school feedback that endorsed the strategy and the impact of the program on aspiration levels of vulnerable students resulting in on-going and additional funding for the program.
