  The Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA) is a professional organization with more than 2,300 individual and company members working together to improve the metal forming and fabricating industry. FMA co-sponsors FABTECH, North America's largest metal forming, fabricating, welding and finishing event as well as many other industry networking events, technology councils and educational programs. The official publications of FMA include - The FABRICATOR®, TPJ -The Tube & Pipe Journal®, STAMPING Journal®, Practical Welding Today®, The Fabricator® en Espanol, and Canadian Industrial Machinery. FMA also has two technology affiliates, the Tube & Pipe Association, International (TPA) and the Sustainable Manufacturer Network (SMN).As an educational program manager, I was responsible for leading the development and execution of twelve education programs in concentration areas such as welding, coil processing, toll processing, and stamping including contract negotiations with hotels, meeting facilities and special event venues, budget development, accounts payable of program expenses, and on-site support of programs held throughout the United States. I also served as facilitator for technology councils in my areas of concentration and served as the liaison for a network of 15 regional education centers utilized to deliver educational programs. I was responsible for development of promotional materials and marketing strategies for each program and consistently exceeded attendance and revenue goals. Show less

  FmC, Inc. and N-Ovation, Inc. are engineering research and development companies specializing in alternative energy projects, such as those funded by the USDA {Development of an On-farm Electricity to Fertilizer Manufacturing System} and USEPA {10 Kilowatt Rankine Cycle Agricultural Waste-to-energy Conversion Module Utilizing a Micro Ultra Turbo Alternator}. The USEPA project was designed to create an application featuring FmC's patented air bearing technology. FmC offers a revolutionary new bearing concept, which utilizes fluidic amplifiers and orifice/volume rate sensing networks to energize air bearing support pads, providing damping ratios much higher than any other air bearing type---without micron-scale orifices and clearances, delicate foils or dedicated cooling and/or lubrication. This “solid state” air bearing concept works much like a magnetic bearing but needs no electronics. Fluidic bearings may be fabricated from high temperature materials used in extreme environments. They do not require springs or other delicate mechanisms and utilization of the same materials as the hot section can eliminate differential thermal growth concerns. My role with the organization was as the Contract/Program Manager for government funded programs. I provided leadership for teams developing new technologies to fulfill the objectives of a program to create energy-independent farms resulting in producing contracted deliverables and meeting reporting requirements on time and within budget constraints.Management of business operations responsibilities included human resources, procurement of materials and supplies, corporate accounting and tax preparation utilizing QuickBooks and other software packages, budget forecasting of projects, development and maintenance of Website and development of internal and external communications materials. The technology that makes our system more efficient, more reliable and offers longer life than what is currently available is our patented, damped air bearing. The initial research and development of many of the system components has been completed through funding by USDA and USEPA Phase I and II SBIR programs. Responsibilities also include developing strategies to reduce prototype costs of a 10 kW Rankine Cycle Combined Heat and Power (CHP) System for residential, agricultural, oil gas flaring and small business applications to levels viable for production as well as identifying more cost effective and efficient vendors and alternative processes. September 2015 began serving as project manager for FmC's involvement with CoyoteX, a design team competing in SpaceX's sponsored competition for transport capsules for the Hyperloop concept.
