      LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited (LHBL), a member of the Holcim Group based in Switzerland, and Cementos Molins of Spain have been operating in Bangladesh for almost two decades. LHBL has invested around USD 500 million to build a fully integrated cement plant in Chhatak, Sunamganj also called surma plant and three grinding stations in Meghnaghat, Narayanganj and Mongla, Bagerhat. We were fortunate enough to visit the surma plant on September 22, 2022 with 25 people (22 3rd year students and 3 teachers). Show less

      BITAC is an autonomous government body and research center researching ways to improve industrial production and providing technical knowledge and is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is part of a strategy by the Bangladesh government to support small and medium-sized enterprises. I was lucky enough to visit BITAC with my 11 batchmates.

      Industrial Visit

      We, the fourth-year students of the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, SUST, visited the Shahjalal Fertilizer Company Limited (SFCL) along with our two respected teachers Saad Been Mosharof and Tahmidul Haque Ruvo on October 17, 2023. SFCL is an institution of BCIC under the Ministry of Industries to meet the growing demand for urea fertilizer. The visit is a part of our course MEE 482, named Power Plant Engineering Sessional. The focus of that visit was to witness the two-steam generator of that industry capacity of 24MW, 12MW each turbine. Show less
