  I directly manage Drill Instructors in order to transform civilians into United States Marines. Leading a team of 15+ Drill Instructors of varying experience, we have trained, coached, and mentored 1000+ recruits in alignment with the rules and guidelines for the recruit training process. The recruits' typical day is waking up at 4am and going to sleep at 8pm, 7 days a week, and a Drill Instructor is always with them. This work hour burden presents a unique challenge and taught me how to effectively lead others under mental and physical stress. Show less Coming directly from the schoolhouse, this job was my first true test to lead Marines. The 6 month schooling prepared me well for the technical nature of the duty; I led an 8+ person team responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate firing of live rockets. I conducted training and mentorship of Marines across multiple occupations, and accounted for over $700,000 worth of weapons and equipment. This introduction to leadership honed my ability to supervise personnel when a miscalculation could cost someone their life. Show less
