  As head of the Thermo-Fluid Dynamics section at the University of Luxembourg I have developed the Extended Discrete Element Method (XDEM) as a novel and advanced multi-physics simulation methodology and lead the LuXDEM Research Centre of Excellence which is visible through its homepage www.xdem.de. The novel and innovative approach of XDEM resolves and couples both discrete and continuous domains of which applications are as diverse as pharmaceutical industry, automotive, agriculture food and processing industry and engineering, construction and agricultural machinery, metals manufacturing, mining, biomedical, material science, cement and energy production.
